My Work Diary — Android privacy policy

About this policy

My Work Diary for Android is provided by Mark Williams. Privacy contact: [email protected]. This policy describes the Android app. Last updated: 13 October 2026.

Your diary stays on your device

Work dates, Quick Assign shifts, duty details, notes, local profile names, leave records, allowances and preferences are stored in app-private storage on your Android device. There is no online account, developer-operated diary server or cloud synchronisation. Mark Williams does not receive your diary automatically.

Photos and documents

The app keeps private copies of photos, camera captures and duty-board PDFs that you choose to import. Text recognition and PDF processing take place on your device. Google ML Kit does not send the images, recognised text or recognition results to Google for processing. Check recognised details before saving them.

Google text-recognition diagnostics

The app uses Google ML Kit for text recognition. Google describes diagnostic and usage metrics including device and app information, performance timings, configuration, feature events and error codes, and per-installation identifiers. These metrics are separate from your image and text contents. The installed library can invoke Google Play services telemetry even though this app does not have direct internet permission. Delivery and the fields sent depend on the library, Google Play services and device configuration. The app has no setting that disables SDK diagnostics. Google uses metrics to maintain, improve and protect its APIs; its privacy policy governs that processing. Google documents HTTPS protection for ML Kit metrics in transit. Mark Williams does not operate a diagnostic server or receive these SDK metrics. See https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms and https://policies.google.com/privacy for Google’s practices, retention and privacy controls. We do not promise that clearing this app deletes metrics already handled by Google.

Actions you choose

Clipboard exports, manual backups, adding leave to a calendar and Read aloud pass relevant information to the Android service or provider you select. Cloud storage and calendar providers may synchronise it; a speech provider may use online voices. Their policies apply to information they handle. Clipboard transfer includes duties and holidays; complete backups also include profiles, media and preferences.

Keeping and deleting your data

Local records remain until you delete or reset them, clear app storage through Android Settings or uninstall the app. Reset controls explain their scope: resetting one profile does not clear the other; photos and shared PDFs can remain after a calendar reset. Temporary or unreferenced media may remain until cleanup runs. Clearing all app storage or uninstalling normally removes app-private data. Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled by the app. Manual backup ZIP files are not encrypted by the app. Keep them securely and delete exported copies or calendar entries through the provider where you saved them. Deleting a local record does not delete external copies.

Permissions and reminders

Notifications are optional and can be disabled in the app or Android Settings. Android may delay reminders. Camera capture and file selection use Android or another app’s interfaces; you choose the content to give My Work Diary. The app does not request broad access to your photo library, contacts or location.

Advertising and accounts

There is no advertising SDK, developer-operated tracking service, account sign-up or cloud diary account in the Android app. Local profiles are simply separate diaries on the same device.
